There Is a Place for You in the Church

Updated: May 15

A Welcoming Community

If you’ve ever been told there’s no place for you in the Church because of who you are or who you love, I want you to hear this clearly:

There is a place for you here.

You are not an outsider. You are not an exception. You are not someone we “tolerate.” You are a full and sacred part of God’s creation. In our tradition—Independent and Liberal Catholic—we don’t believe love is a problem to be solved or a sin to be corrected. We believe love is holy.

The Struggles Many Face

I’ve seen people shut out, shamed, or made to feel like they had to choose between their faith and their identity. That’s not how it should be. You don’t have to prove your worth. You don’t have to hide who you are. The sacraments are for you. The altar is open to you. And so is the heart of God.

Our church doesn’t ask you to change who you are to be welcome. We only ask that you come as you are—whole, human, and hungry for grace like the rest of us.

The Heart of Our Beliefs

Within our community, acceptance is central. We believe in a God that embraces diversity and celebrates differences. This belief assures every individual that their unique identity is valued. It embraces not only sexual orientation but also various races, cultures, and experiences.

We are committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive. The phrase "you are not alone" resonates deeply here. Being part of a supportive faith community can empower you. It reminds you that there are others who share similar experiences and feelings.

What to Expect

When you visit our church, you will find warmth and openness. You will encounter people who understand the struggles of feeling marginalized. Our members are on various journeys and are eager to share their stories.

You will witness moments of joy, pain, and healing. The services reflect these diverse experiences. They are designed to uplift everyone in attendance. You will also see individuals connecting through communal activities, like group prayers and discussions.

Building a Strong Community

Our church establishes programs aimed at fostering connections. We organize gatherings and workshops to discuss spirituality and identity. These events welcome everyone, regardless of background. They provide safe spaces for sharing and exploration.

By participating in such activities, you find a network of support. You cultivate friendships that can last a lifetime. This sense of belonging enriches your faith experience.

Why Your Presence Matters

Your presence at our church is invaluable. It brings a unique perspective that contributes to our collective spiritual journey. Every participant adds a thread to the rich tapestry of faith that surrounds us.

Inclusion brings strength. When we stand together, we demonstrate the power of love and acceptance. We challenge the narratives that attempt to divide us. Every individual can play a role in shaping our community's future.

Conclusion

You belong here. No one gets turned away from the table.

In our church, you will always find open arms and understanding hearts. Join us, and let’s embark on this beautiful journey of faith, love, and acceptance together.
