This Sunday, we enter the holiest week of the Church year. The Gospel reading is from Luke 22:14—23:56. It begins with the Last Supper and carries us through betrayal, denial, agony, trial, crucifixion, and burial.
As a priest and healer, I read this Gospel through the lens of those I serve: the veterans carrying unseen wounds, the grieving parents, the caretakers and the dying, the ones whose daily cross feels just as heavy.
Jesus doesn’t just suffer—He suffers with dignity, with love, and with full presence. He prays in the garden even when fear grips Him. He shares bread and wine even while knowing betrayal is at hand. He forgives those who harm Him. He walks through humiliation with grace.
This isn’t a story far removed from us. It’s the very pattern of life I witness every day in this ministry.
Holy Week reminds us that spiritual care isn’t just about comfort. It’s about presence in pain. It’s about staying awake in the garden. It’s about carrying the cross with someone—not fixing it, not rushing past it, but honoring it as sacred.
Palm Sunday isn’t just the beginning of the Passion. It’s the doorway to the heart of Christ—a heart that beats in every moment of compassion, courage, and quiet endurance.
